Hello Sky Goodbye Land
The new Chuck Vegas album Hello Sky Goodbye Land is now available on all platforms online, and we’re excited to share it with the world, come hell or high water. This year marked the 20th anniversary of our first recording at DNA Music Labs when we laid down the tracks for Come Visit Soon back in 2004 as Box Elder. That was the beginning of a musical journey that has spanned decades and transformed through several bands, including Box Elder, Perilous Cole Dear August, Yellow Hammer Heart, and now, the Chuck Vegas Band.
Dan O’Brien, Douglas Milks, Adrienne Applegate and Tyler Applegate reunited this summer after collaborating across the country with a handful of rough tracks of Adrienne’s music. After three weeks of practicing apart, we all met in the studio at DNA in Madison, WI, tuned our guitars, and jumped straight into recording. Mark Whitcomb, who has been a key part of our musical history and involved in all four previous albums, not only recorded, mixed, and mastered the album but also stepped in to play bass, becoming a full-fledged member of the band for this project. His contributions were integral, and we're grateful to have him as part of this journey.
This album is dedicated to OPA, inspired by the spirit of our dear friend Davey Williams and a tribute to former bandmates Tara Martin, Andy McDevitt, Darren Radbourne, Adam Austin Sears, and Davey, partners who were all with us along the way but are no longer with us now. Their music, energy, friendship, and influence continue to shape us.
In Winter 2025, we’ll celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Come Visit Soon release with a new limited edition vinyl from Chuck Vegas. Enjoy and stay tuned for the next drop; Chuck Vegas heads back to the studio this summer for part two.
